Maternal Mental Health

Support for mothers through every stage

Supporting Maternal Well-Being

Pregnancy, birth, and the transition into motherhood can be both beautiful and overwhelming. Many parents experience significant emotional shifts as they navigate physical recovery, identity changes, and the constant needs of a newborn. Anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, difficulty bonding, or feelings of guilt and isolation are far more common than most people realize — and support is available. Reaching out for help is a powerful act of care for both yourself and your baby.

A trauma-informed approach acknowledges that each parent’s story is unique. Past trauma — including birth trauma, fertility challenges, medical complications, or earlier life experiences — can shape how someone adjusts to parenthood. You deserve a space that honors your voice, offers safety and compassion, and supports healing at your pace.

My Maternal Well-Being Approach

Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to strengthen resilience, reduce distress, and reconnect you with what matters most. Using evidence-based modalities such as CBT, CPT, EMDR and ACT, we support parents in understanding their experiences, regulating the nervous system, and building confidence in their role as caregivers.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help identify and gently shift unhelpful thoughts that may fuel worry or self-criticism. It supports emotional balance, improves coping with daily stressors, and reinforces confidence in parenting abilities.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is especially healing when trauma is part of the story. For parents who have experienced distressing births or medical interventions, CPT provides a structured way to explore how trauma has influenced beliefs about safety, trust, and control. The process helps reduce shame, challenge self-blame, and restore a sense of empowerment and meaning.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) brings mindfulness and compassion into healing. Instead of battling painful thoughts or emotions, ACT teaches ways to acknowledge them while staying aligned with parenting values. This approach strengthens the connection to what truly matters — bonding with baby, honoring personal well-being, and moving forward with intention.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR can support maternal mental health by helping process distressing pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or parenting experiences that contribute to anxiety, depression, guilt, or trauma symptoms. It may reduce emotional distress while strengthening self-compassion, confidence, and a greater sense of safety.

You Are Not Alone

Maternal mental health challenges are treatable, and healing is absolutely possible. You deserve support that recognizes the complexity of your experience and provides tools to help you feel seen, grounded, and capable.

Your story matters, and you do not have to move through this season alone. If you are ready to begin, I am here to walk with you — with understanding, flexibility, and care every step of the way.
